Name and logo
Envoryx's code is under the AGPL-3.0. You may use, change, run and pass it on as the licence allows, and this page changes none of that. The licence doesn't give you any right to the name Envoryx or its logo, though. This page says how you can use both.
The reason is simple: when someone reads "Envoryx", they should be able to rely on getting Envoryx, and know who to turn to when something breaks. Talking about Envoryx, writing about it and promoting it is very welcome.
Fine without asking
- Saying that your offer or product runs on Envoryx or works with it: "powered by Envoryx", "runs on Envoryx", "plugin for Envoryx".
- Writing and talking about Envoryx in blog posts, guides, videos, talks and comparisons, critical ones included.
- Linking to envoryx.dev or the repository, with the unchanged logo if you like.
- Passing on the official images or releases unchanged as Envoryx.
- Running or passing on a changed version, as long as you don't just call it "Envoryx" but say it's based on Envoryx and changed by you.
Please ask first
- Envoryx in the name of a product, service, company or domain, like "Envoryx Cloud" or
envoryx-hosting.com. - The logo on things you sell, such as shirts or stickers.
- An offer that's meant to appear as "official", "certified" or an "Envoryx partner".
I'll usually say yes. I'd just like to know beforehand what happens under the name.
Not okay
- Giving the impression that your offer is official, recommended by me or connected to Envoryx when it isn't.
- Presenting a substantially changed version as Envoryx, so that its bugs land on the project.
- Changing the logo or using it as the logo of your own product.
- Using a name or logo so close to Envoryx that people could mix the two up.
Logo files
Pick the version that fits your background. The one on its own dark ground works anywhere; the other two have no background and blend into your page. For small spaces there's the icon with the <E> characters.
Providers
If you run Envoryx for customers, "powered by Envoryx" is exactly right. How to get on the list of providers is explained there.
Questions
If you're not sure, drop me a line at info@envoryx.dev. I'd rather get a question beforehand than ask for a rename afterwards.
